As the news predicted last night, Tropical Storm Chanchu, or Caloy as he is known in the Philippines, has arrived in Hong Kong. It was expected to hit the ground this afternoon, and it was uber windy this lunch time. There hasn't been any heavy rainfall yet, though, and we're expecting it to kick in later tonight.
But as early as now, the storm clouds are starting to gather. My office has a nice vista of North Point and the surrounding mountains, and now all I see are dark clouds hovering by at a very fast pace. While my colleague and I were watching it from the window, we predicted that it's going to pour later. And hopefully, we'll be home by then, snuggled up in bed, reading a magazine. (Time to bring out the comforter again.)
Also, they've started rolling up the billboards, much like they do in Guadalupe, in anticipation of the wild winds that will potentially rip apart those hapless tarpaulin creations. And at the lobby of our office building, it says that Signal Number 3 is hoisted. They have a different signal system in Hong Kong, though. It goes all the way up to Signal Number 8. Sounds scary, though I've seen one already, and it's much like Signal number 3 in the Philippines.
Looks like we're going to be in for a wet weekend the next few days. And I also reckon Disneyland will be emptier than zero once the storm intensifies. Oh well, that's nature for you. All I can say now is: Huanying Ni Lai Hong Kong, Caloy!
