Philippinspiration

While browsing through style.com, two particular photos caught my eye. Aside from the fact that these pieces of clothing were made by two excellent fashion houses, there was something about them that struck me.

The designs remind me of the Philippines.

Take for instance this blouse from the S/S 2012 collection of Valentino. It looks like a belted-barong tagalog.


Or this dress from Vionnet's S/S 2012 collection. The triangle, positioning of the stars and the shape at the bottom has a semblance to the Philippine flag.


I'm not sure if they were inadvertent or not. But the fact that the country inspires fashion around the world makes me even more inspired to celebrate our culture.
