Sign. Combine.
Speaking of signs, I saw this one last weekend.
Nice name for a business, eh?

But is it real?
Here's a study on how the wrong positioning of a letter on a signage can make all the difference.
Now, if it's "FAux Aircon," does that mean it doesn't really work? Or is it an electric fan? Why is it faux?
So many questions.

White Twix!
Not to be confused with "White Chicks." Harhar.
But seriously, there's White Twix out in the market now! And I had to buy a few!
Let me get it out there. IT'S. DA. SHIZ!
'Nuff said.

Oh! Oh! Onigiri!
Look what I found in the nearby Korean store!
It's a legit onigiri! And I'm saying legit because it uses the same unwrapping style that we've come to know in Japan.
But as the Korean lady in the shop reiterated, this is a Korean version of the onigiri. And yes, I was able to taste some differences. Primarily, the rice isn't as sweet, and the tuna filling is sweeter than what they make in Japan.
Well, it's the closest to legit that I've seen in Manila. So, I'm not complaining.

Slow Sunday
Since the week went by like a blur, let me celebrate the weekend with a song by "Blur."
Such an apt ditty to cap the week.

When work isn't work
Working on a Saturday until almost midnight doesn't feel like work when you're with some of the funniest and coolest folks.
So no, we weren't working on a Saturday. We were having fun.

FMM: French leave
Since I'm on a Kylie Minogue roll, let me mark today's Friday Magic Madness with another classic Kylie from the 80s.
The first time I heard the word "Je ne sais quoi" was from Lola Dita. Later I found out that it loosely meant "something extra." But the phrase "Je ne sais quoi porquoui" means "I don't know why."
Amazing how one word in French can change the total meaning of a phrase. And while I don't know how one word could change the meaning so much, I do know that I enjoy listening to this song again and again and again.

Let the waterworks begin!
Admittedly, I fully geeked out and teared-up inside after seeing the full trailer of the Aquaman film.
This is one film that I'm definitely, DEFINITELY not going to miss.

WATN: Judge and be judged
He was a staple in a lot of comedies in the 80s. He even headlined a lot of hit ones. In my book, he was like another Chevy Chase in the offing. His comic timing and subtlety were always spot on, which is no wonder why he was an in-demand comic during that decade.
One of my favorite films which starred this guy was "Vice Versa." Although the premise of the film wasn't really new - there was "Big" which was shown at almost the same time - the actors made it work. Actually, "Vice Versa" introduced me to the concept of "skids." Harhar.
His Hollywood appearances continued in the 90s, then begin tapering off from the mid-90s until the present. Nowadays, it's very rare that you catch him in Hollywood films, and even on TV.
Which begs the question, where in the world in Judge Reinhold?
His comic timing is really missed. Hope to see him in a film again soon.

Two Edgardos, Four generations.
What's not to love about this photo?
Not only does it represent 4 generations of Morales guys, it also has 2 Edgardos in one frame. We have my Dad, Edgardo, and his great grandson, Noah Edgardo.
Lucky boys indeed!

Okay, so I love Taylor Swift.
And I love surprises.
Now, put them together, and you have this:

(Shali)marred
The 70s were such a great era for dance and disco music. And not just the head banging, body slamming type of dance music. There were groups that specialized in music that you just sway your head and body to.
One such group with this type of music was Shalimar. They served hit after hit, giving the disco denizens more than enough reasons to just hold on to their drinks and chill on the dance floor.
They had a lot of hits, but one of my all-time favorites is "Second Time Around."
Obviously, I'll be listening to this FMM ditty the second, third, fourth, fifth time around.

LFLTAT: Romp and Circumstance
SM Department Store's random sales are both ugh and woot!
Ugh, because I always see something nice and end up buying things. Woot because they're usually 50% off on an already affordable price. Ergo, that's like a double deal!
Just like this LFLTAT which I put together this week.
It's a striped and embroidered romper, plus a loose red shirt. It's an outfit that screams "weekend chic!"
And the total look is less than P600!
There's even enough left for a shoe.
Wait, let me look for one.

Now, I can go to the airport from the office in a faster and more convenient way!
There's a P2P to the airport from Galleria!

Shirt cut to style
The minimalist in me can't resist a nicely cut, beautifully crafted white shirt. And this isn't true just for me, but also for my Ates.
Uniqlo had this super chic white t-shirt dress, and I had to get it!
But white doesn't have to be too plain and boring. With the right accessories, it can be stylishly cool. Just like what I put together to dress up this white shirt dress.
The white espadrille sneakers are as casual and comfy, which makes it the perfect footwear. To add pops of color, I've added yellow tassel earrings. These 2 items were both from Parfois. Finally, a cross body bag in the same hue, which I got from SM Department Store.
And that's my shirtcut, I mean shortcut, to style.

Sunday Especial
Wait, there's more!
A reunion duet with Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan, singing their iconic 80s hit! I'll admit, watching this video made me sentimental, almost to the point of being teary-eyed.
This is a good weekend for music.

You can't Hyde from this!
Stumbled upon this video of the recent Hyde Park concert featuring Kylie Minogue. And gosh, I was psyched when I saw it.
Here's why:
Kylie Minogue singing Rick Astley. Then, Rick Astley appearing on stage! Then there's the fact that they sang a mash up of "Lucky" and "Never Gonna Give you up."
I'm going to watch this over and over and over and over and over again tonight.

FMM: In Wolf's clothing
With such a busy week - and a working weekend in the offing - I'm looking for something happy and boppy to listen to this Friday.
Times like these, I gravitate towards the new wave sounds of the 80s and 90s. Just like this infectious ditty from Peter Wolf.
"Lights Out" was one of their hits and was a mainstay in a lot of discos (yes, discos) in the 90s. And given how catchy it is, I can't blame them.
