The Godfather

No, this isn't a post about the Marlon Brando film.

It's about...

Me!

Yup, after many, many outings as a godfather to my friends' kids, I'm now - and for the first time - a godfather at a wedding!

Last Sunday was my first foray as a wedding godfather, and the lovely couple is my art director - Kat, and her new hubby, Laurence!

It's a different feeling when you're now acting as a second parent to a married couple. While I'm not equipped to give them marriage advice, I'd probably give out sound and good relationship advice.

Better get ready for this new responsibility.

Last Tuesday, the office had our birthday cocktails. The theme?

Jejemon.

Wait, that didn't come out right.

J3j3m0hwn!

As a sign of sportsmanship and the spirit of gameness, some of us showed up in our j3j3 best, which led the 3 of us to be named top 3 j3j3m0hwns.

I'm the traditional j3j3m0hwn, Mayu is the j3j3pan, and Mikee is the j3j3Lo.

Seeing this makes me even gladder that this era is over.

Looks like their group is expanding.

Now, there's not just one carefree cat in our building.

Yup, he has a companion! And he's just as nonchalant and laid-back as the other.

I'm sure a lot of people would love to be part of this group.

Because we're turning Japanese!

The Creative Team was the host for this month's birthday cocktails. We had several themes in mind, but knowing that this month is the Sakura season in Japan, we thought of bringing a bit of Japan to Ortigas.

Thanks to the team, we were able to transform the CAI Cafe into our little piece of Ueno park.

Sidewalk sleeper

Another Monday, another shot of this adorbz office cat.

Seriously, this cat can sleep pretty much anywhere. 

Today, he found himself nestled comfortably on the sidewalk in front of our office steps.

Mood

While we were at the office as early as January 2, today is actually the official work day at the office.

And seeing this cat outside our building pretty much sums up how everyone at work feels.

No time for cat napping thought.

Because Tong Yang as a birthday celebration place is always a good idea.

With all the food and drinks, "Happy Burp-day" would be more appropriate.

Kiddulting

You know you're an 80s kid when this toy makes you excited.

This propeller is a very simple toy, but it's so much fun to play with. It was part of my trick-or-treat loot, and there were some left and the creative team ended up playing with it non-stop.

Amazing how a simple toy can bring back the kid in you.

Hallowheeen!

It's trick or treat day at the office. And it looks like I've overpacked treat bags.

Packed 55 bags, an it turns out that there are only 20 kids doing the traiditon.

That just means one thing:

The adults are in for a treat!

From spreads to jams

Another month, another party organised by the creative team.

Since it's October, we wanted to do something related to Oktoberfest, but not too obvious.

Thus, Oktober Jam.

It's probably the longest party we've had so far. It extended until after midnight ,which is testament to how much everyone enjoyed it.

This jam was a success!

Tapsi-Truvy

An important realisation on the 1st day of work:

Lyli hasn't tried Rodic's TapSiLog yet.

Say no more:

We went to the nearest Rodic's so Lyli can sample the restaurant that sustained me and other UP students during our Diliman days.

As expected, they did not disappoint.

This really is the taste of nostalgia.

Partying day to night

That pretty much sums up today.

In the morning, we had our institutional Christmas Party at SSC. It was great to see the whole Scholastican community together. I'm always amazed at how big we are, and despite the size, it feels like an intimate family.

It was great to catch-up with co-faculty who I haven't seen in a while.

Then, it was off to Richard's house for our annual Thanksgiving toast.

Gosh! The parties just go on and on. (And I'm all for it!)

A Feast of Creativity

Food is one of the things that everyone in the creative team has in common.

So, it's just about correct to spend our last working day feasting on Japanese food.

Flying Coach-ella

And the parties continue.

Tonight we had our office Christmas party! 

Since there are a lot of Gen Z-ers in the agency, we thought of a theme that's both relevant and appealing to them.

Yup, we had a Coachella Christmas party. We brought the music festival vibes and reminisced about concerts we attended and festivals we want to catch in the future.

Thanks to our Admin and the ChrisComm for making the 2nd to the last party of the year very festive.

What's the Bus?

I'm so fortunate to work with and be surrounded by very creative people.

On a daily basis, they showcase their creativity with the amount and kind of ideas they come up with and present. But in special occasions, they show off their creativity even more.

Just like during our anniversary parties.

The team conceptualised, designed, executed and set-up with Mardi Gras bus. And it was the centerpiece of the celebration.

People were amazed at the scale of this installation. They couldn't resist taking photos with and in it, which is understandable.

You can really find creativity everywhere!

After 4 years of absence, our Annual Anniversary party is back!

This year, our theme is "Mardi Gras," so everyone dressed up in their best NOLA attire.

We missed dressing up. We missed partying. We missed getting together with clients, partners and industry friends. 

We missed this!

And we're on a high because we finally get to continue this tradition.

A tale of two Halloweens

As October winds down, the Halloween fever heats up.

Trick-or-treats abound, and that's actually a thrill for me since I'm a fan of making treat bags.

With 2 events - one at home and one at the office - my treat bag skills went on overdrive and was able to put together more than a hundred bags! At first, it felt like an overkill. But the fact that it was wiped out, and some people were asking for more, made me think "I should've made more."

New Heights

Despite the fact that I've been with the company for more than a decade, this is the first time I'm seeing this view.

Apparently, we have a balcony that faces Emerald Avenue!

Despite the height, I'm finding this view quite relaxing.

Ah yes, you learn something new everyday.

Ball of cuteness

Starting the work week with this uber cute sight.

This adorable, curled up, sleeping cat was at the building across the office. This cutie cattater was unmindful of the people walking around. Yup, unbothered.

Just like Garfield, this cat must hate Mondays.
