It looks like their Safeguard is heavily guarded. 

Or it looks like they kidnapped Safeguard and is holding him against his will.

So many ideas with just one photo.

I guess this is what they mean when they say "a picture is worth a thousand words."

I've seen this sign so many times, and it always gets me.

So, you're just supposed to wash one hand? Or one hand at a time?

Gospel truth

Last week, we shot a commercial at this building called the Communication Foundation for Asia.

It's a super rustic and beautiful brown shone building with that strong medieval feel. During breaks, I'd roam around and check out the building. At least the parts that were open to the public.

While reading about the history of the building, a factoid presented itself. It was a factoid that got me so giddy and excited! It turns out that this building used to house the printing press where they would print Gospel Komiks.

Yes! The same comic book that was a required reading material for us when we were in grade school and high school! Par to four tuition went to the subscription of this magazine, and I'd look forward to - and enjoy reading - my copy.

Water the odds

We were busy shooting inside the studio.

We could hear the strong rains outside, but it wasn't strong enough to be a concern.

We stepped out during a break, and we saw this:

And to think we just went out to go to 7-11 about an hour ago.

That was quick.

One of Four

It's going to be a "good kind of busy" week .

Today is the 1st day of 4 days of shooting. We have today and tomorrow, then Thursday to Friday.

It's going to be a lot of fun! 

(And the studio for the Thursday and Friday shoots have a Lawson in the same building.)

It’s about how fun shoots can be if you’re working around effervescent clients, perky production folks and a good story to start with.

The shoot is fun as it is. 

I’m sure the final commercial will be even more so.

SSDD

About a decade ago, I'd see Bea and Kekx regularly on Saturdays.

They were my students in SSC, both with a minor in Advertising. Even back then, their penchant for creativity and making commercials were evident. Thus, I was hoping that they'd pursue their advertising careers.

Luckily, they did.

Now, I'm working with Bea and Kekx! On a Saturday, to boot! It's like a reunion of our Saturday classes, albeit more fun and professional.

Looking at them work, it's easy to see that they've got a bright future ahead of them in this industry. It's something that I saw many, many, maaaaannnny Saturdays ago, and something that I'm seeing again this Saturday.

Same Saturday. Different Decade.

Something to TikTok about

Whenever people ask me about my social media accounts, my perpetual answer would be a sheepish smile and a shaking of the head. 

Because truth be told, there is none.

Except for this blog, and an FB account that my student once called "parang wala din", I've never opened any. So, I'm one of the very few people who don't have IG, TikTok, Twitter or any other account of that sort.

My niece - Toni - is popular on TikTok. She's the type who has more than a million followers and gets stopped on the street so people can take selfies with her.

Recently, we also worked with a popular TikToker for one of our commercials. She has a huge Mom following, which explains why I'm not familiar with who she is. On the last day of our shoot, she said that she'll be making TikTok content based on our shoot, and asked us to participate.

Of course, I'd normally say "no." But since the director, client and my colleagues were all game - what the heck.

So, whilst I'm not on TikTok, I can now say that I'm on TikTok.

Hey, having appeared in one video should count.

How cute is this crocheted apple?

Back in our elementary school days, one of our art projects involved crocheting. Back then, it was a lot of fun and I was good at it.

Maybe this apple - which i was just given to me and not made by me - is a sign to resume my crochet days!

Cat-urday

Saturday was spent busily and efficiently working inside the studio our shoot, but in reality, we'd rather be this cat that was unmindfully and comfortably sleeping outside the studio.

Mind you, he was just sleeping there for more than 6 hours! And it brought me great joy just watching him spend Saturday as lazily as possible.

Ah, to live like this comfy cat.

Hot Turkey

Presenting a discovery from today's TVC shoot.

Pringles has this limited edition flavour of Roasted Turkey!

I haven't tried it yet, but if it's really good, I'm going to be thanksgiving and buy a few more cans.

We're back in a shoot today, and some of the people I'm working with are people I've been working since Friday last week!

One of them is Grant, our tireless producer who's running everything from sun up to sun down.

It's a lot of work. But you just gotta hustle!

The provincial life

When you’re stuck in the middle of a rural market with nothing to do, you end up acting - and hanging out - like the locals.

We look pretty convincing.

All heart!

Our team put our hearts into this project. And it shows!

I'm so excited for the final output!

Beyond Be-leaf

You know you’re shooting in the province if the leaves are bigger than you.

Ah yes, the provincial life.

Scramble!

It took me 4 decades before I got my first taste of Ice Scramble. Or what they called back in grade school, “Iskrambol!”

We weren’t allowed to eat it as kids. That’s why we never had the urge to try it.

But during yesterday’s shoot, there was a vendor selling it outside our venue, so the production folks got us some.

And all I can say is: “I waited 4 decades for this? Meh!” Hahaha

I kid you not...

It’s always a joy to work with kids!

Even if we ended up with a long shoot day.

Nope, not the clothing line.

It's the latest commercial project we did.

The time between the prep, shooting and editing was less than 2 weeks. Yup, that fast.

But since we were working with friends who feel like family, it was definitely fun.

Fast and Fun. That's a great combination.
