FMM: Gold Smith

Thanks to a project I'm currently working on, I've rediscovered this old song that was my LSS for a time.

This is a ditty from 1978 from the Patti Smith Group. And yes, we shouldn't confuse Patti Smith with Patty Smyth.

"Because the night" is one of those songs that really evokes a mood. Just by listening to it, I'm transported to a dark, dingy bar with dark wood walls and floors and sparse lighting. Smoke from cigars would be wafting in the air, only seen through the streaks of light that illuminate the bar and stage.

Then, Patti Smith and her group would be playing in the background. Her haunting voice breaking through the din, and piercing both our ears and our emotions.

Amazing how just listening to a song can bring you to a place like this.

That's how good Patti Smith is. And that's why this song is gold!
