Movie scenes in my mind: Fierce foot

There are a number of movie scenes that live rent-free in my mind.

Some are there because of humour. Some are there because of music. Some are there because of powerful emotions. Some are there because of a memorable script. Some are there because of excellent acting.

This scene is a combination of the last 2.

This pivotal scene from "Erin Brockovich" is a masterclass in subdued and effortless acting. Julia Roberts delivered the line with a perfect balance of calmness and intensity, and that further amplified the power of her dialogue and the scene.

The "two wrong feet and f***ing ugly shoes" line was gold!

And that was her foot in the Oscan door.

Ticket within a Ticket

Call this an inception moment.

My airline ticket from CX going to HKG came with another ticket! It's a ticket to a film that I've always wanted to watch, featuring one of my all-time fave actresses - Julia Roberts!

"Ticket to Paradise" is a rom-com that's been on my radar since the trailer dropped. Unfortunately, they didn't show it here in MNL, mainly due to the fact that most theatres were closed.

So, when it appeared on the entertainment console, I immediately pulled it up and watched it.

Gosh, Julia hasn't lost her touch when it comes to rom-coms!

Back to the Best

Yes, Julia Roberts didn't get the guy, (the injustice!), but I think "My Best Friend's Wedding" is still one of Julia's best films.

And just like that, it's been more than 20 years since the film came out!

And now, there's a reunion!

Just like the movie, I can watch this over and over again.

I'll follow her!

Yes, I just can't get enough of Julia Roberts! And I can't get enough of this segment on Ellen where she talks about joining Instagram and Ellen trying to get her more followers.

Heck, I'll follow her anytime. (Though I don't have Instagram, so I can't. Harhar.)

Julia's Jam

What's better than watching a Julia Robert's film? Watching a compendium of her films, mashed-up, and performed live!

That's what she did in this sketch with James Corden.

Brilliant, as always.

Pretty Stylish!

Look who's back on the cover of InStyle!

Julia Roberts, stylish as ever, fronts the December 2017 issue of InStyle. I always look forward to the year's last issue, particularly their 100 style moments of the year.

Now, their cover girl is another reason to look forward to the issue!

Julia and child

Julia Roberts and an adorable kid in a family drama?

Count me in!

Definitely, I won't "Wonder" when this film becomes a heartwarming hit.

P.S. Was someone chopping onions while this was being shown?

Was there ever a doubt?

Nope, no doubt here.

Julia Roberts really is the most beautiful woman. Trust People Magazine. And People of the world in general.

Nope, Julia Roberts isn't just a Pretty Woman, she's the World's Most Beautiful!

Pretty cool!

Who would've thought that the film "Pretty Woman" is already 25 years old!

Honestly, I don't know anyone who didn't like this groundbreaking and career making rom-com from the 90s. After all, it's the ultimate feel-good movie, complete with Cinderella references!

It's a film that I can watch over and over and over again, and not tire of. And I found out that last March, some of the cast members reunited on the Today Show and talked about their experiences before, during and after the film.

Julia Roberts is luminous, as usual. No wonder the rest of the cast was smitten by her - 20 years ago, and until today.

This is a pretty cool reunion indeed!

Pretty Happy Woman

Among the many Oscar speeches that I've seen and heard throughout the years, one of the most earnest, most honest, funniest and most inspiring has to be Julia Roberts' speech when she won for "Erin Brockovich" in 2001.

Listening to her speech was like riding a rollercoaster. It was one emotion after the other, but ending up with a feeling of gratification and exhilaration.

She was so good in this, she should win another one again.

Rockin' Roberts!

Last March, I wrote an entry about the upcoming September issue of InStyle. Particularly, I listed down the possible cover girls for their monumental 20th anniversary issue.

My fervent wish back then was that Julia Roberts make a comeback on the cover.

Last Friday, they finally released the issue and guess who's on the cover?

I've said it then and I'll say it now, Julia Roberts rocks!

No J. Lo

When I realized that this year is the 20th anniversary of InStyle, there was one question in my mind:

"Who will their September cover girl be?"

Being the September 2014 cover girl is an honor twice over. Aside from being the biggest issue of the year, it's the 20th anniversary of the biggest issue of the year. So, it's a coveted cover assignment.

Initially, I was thinking that J. Lo might be their September 2014 cover girl. She's a favorite of InStyle, and I remember her on the cover of the 15th anniversary issue, and also on the September 2012 issue. So she's a likely candidate. But after seeing the cover of this month's InStyle, she's suddenly out of the running.

Second on my list is Drew Barrymore. She has the distinction of having the most cover appearances on InStyle. Also, she was the September 2013 cover girl, and that can be both an advantage and disadvantage.

Other possible contenders for the cover - at least in my mind - are Gwyneth Paltrow, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Aniston, Beyonce or Cameron Diaz.

But if you ask me who I'd want to be on the September cover of InStyle? That's simple.

Julia Roberts!!!

After all, it's been 11 years since her last InStyle cover appearance. So I think it's about time for her to make a comeback.

Other women I'd like to see on the cover include: Cate Blanchett, Hilary Swank, and their first ever cover girl - Barbra Streisand!

Gosh! I have to wait 6 months more before I finally find out the answer.

We Heart Julia!

While browsing through the yahoo site, I found this trailer for the upcoming HBO film entitled "The Normal Heart."

It looks like Julia Roberts is going to give a riveting performance in this film. She portrays a doctor with polio who finds herself in the middle of the AIDS epidemic in the 80s. Because of the period and the role, she looks deglamorized in this film. But even then, she looks great.

Now I have to put "The Normal Heart" into my must-watch list.

That smile!

While watching the SAG Awards on-line, there were a lot of funny, heartwarming and touching highlights. But if there's one thing that I'll remember most about the program, it's Julia Roberts' smile.

A few years back, Julia appeared in a film entitled "Mona Lisa Smile." Heck, they should've just changed the title to "Julia Roberts Smile." Her smile alone can be a movie in itself!

I hope that she wins the Oscars for Best Supporting Actress come March. It would be awesome to see that smile light up the Oscar stage again.

Oscar power!

Two Oscar best actress winners in one movie! This I gotta see!

Heck, I'd watch it for Julia Roberts alone.
