The perfect storm

With Typhoon Maring (which in Bicol means a crazy person) immobilizing most of Metro Manila, I  found myself doing something that I haven't done in a while. Stay at home for 2 days straight.

Yup, since some of the roads are impassable and most of the establishments are closed, I was just at home being lazy. All I did was sleep, eat, read, play with Javier, eat, sleep, sleep and eat. It's been ages since I last slept until 10am, only to sleep again at 1pm. Yes, the day was very lazy.

In fact, it was perfectly lazy.

FMM: Water world

On our way to the office from a pre-production meeting, the rain continued to pour, causing massive traffic everywhere we looked. From Magallanes to C5, cars were almost at a standstill.

While water was pouring outside, and we were all sleepy inside the van, this song suddenly played on the radio:

Water outside, water inside. How providential. Harhar.

Love in the 8th degree

Nope, this isn't a tribute to Bananarama's classic 80's hit, "Love in the 1st degree."

As arrived in Tokyo tonight, the weather was a beautifully cool 8 degrees! It was the perfect time to wear my trusty leather jacket, which I brought, thanks to Mark who reminded me about the weather.

Hello Tokyo! It's cool to be back. Literally.

Finally!

After a week of hiding, the sun has finally made its magnificent presence felt.

Here's to more sun in the days ahead!

Here comes the sun

Looks like Shash was right.

Yesterday, she said something like: "with my luck, it's going to be sunny and dry tomorrow." Today, the clouds began to clear and the sun came out this afternoon. I'd reckon, that same time, she would have already touched down in Manila and is back in our beautiful, warm country.

After a week of rains, the sight of that blinding yellow orb is very welcome indeed. Hopefully, it'll be there again tomorrow morning, bathing us mortals with its warm rays. It's such a great feeling that,

that,

that,

I feel a song coming along! (oh geez, how very, VERY Bollywood!)

Presenting my favorite "After the Rain" song. And no, it definitely ain't Mariah Carey's "I can make it through the rain."

COME CLEAN by Hillary Duff

Let's go back
Back to the beginning
Back to when the earth, the sun, the stars all aligned

Cause perfect didn't feel so perfect
Trying to fit a square into a circle was no lie
I defy

Let the rain fall down and wake my dreams
Let it wash away my sanity
Cause I wanna feel the thunder
I wanna scream
Let the rain fall down
I'm coming clean
I'm coming clean

I'm shedding
Shedding every color
Trying to find a pigment of truth beneath my skin

Oh....

Cause different
Doesn't feel so different
And going out is better
Than always staying in
Feel the wind

Let the rain fall down and wake my dreams
Let it wash away my sanity
Cause I wanna feel the thunder
I wanna scream
Let the rain fall down
I'm coming clean
I'm coming clean

Rain fall down
(I'm coming clean)
Rain fall down
Rain fall down

Let the rain fall
Let the rain fall
I'm coming

Let the rain fall down and wake my dreams
Let it wash away my sanity
Cause I wanna feel the thunder
I wanna scream
Let the rain fall down
I'm coming clean
I'm coming clean

Oh, coming clean
Oh, coming clean
Let the rain fall
Let the rain fall
Let the rain fall
I'm coming clean
Let the rain fall down

Hmm... oh oh oh...

Let's go back
Back to the beginning

Wet weekend

It's been raining the past few days. Not the ordinary sissy drizzle but a real downpour! The type that renders your jeans heavy because of all that water being absorbed, and makes your shoes all squishy and uncomfortable.

Now what's a guy to do on a weekend like this? I just hope there's something good on TV.

Awful Weather we're having today...

It's my first time to experience a full blown storm in Hong Kong.

If I tune out and suspend all reality, the feeling is the same as watching storms from the 32nd floor of Wynsum Building in Ortigas. The same dark clouds, the same sound of water splashing against the glass panes, the same visibility (or lack of) in the background.

Back in Manila, what we'd usually do during times like these was to head on to Robinsons Galleria, catch a movie, then just stroll around the mall. It's a bit disappointing that our office is 2 train stations away from the nearest mall. Thing is, malls here aren't as exciting as Ayala Center, Galleria or Megamall.

I suddenly miss Manila. If I click my heels 3 times and say "There's no place like home," then maybe I'll be transported back to the Philippines.

*click*

*click*

*click*

There's no place like home...

*wait*

*wait*

*wait*

Nope, didn't work.

*sigh*

Here comes the rain again.

Once upon a time, I worked in an office that was 32 floors off the ground. Having a cubicle by the window offered me a fantastic view of Ortigas all the way down to Eastwood. While many vistas caught my fancy, nothing compared to the high I got whenever i'd see storms pass by. At that height, the sight of nature's fury is breathtaking!

Rainclouds so thick, it blankets the city to a point that you almost see nothing.
Winds so strong, you can feel the glass panels vibrate.
Trees slowly being uprooted, and sometimes hitting helpless cars.
Plastic signages being snapped into pieces. Tarpaulin streamers being ripped into shreds.
Roof materials flying around like magic carpets.

My officemates and I would usually watch in amazement as nature unleashes its fury. Meanwhile, our secretary would be pacing around and screaming "delubyo na! delubyo na!"

I'm now working in a new office with a better view, 34 floors up. Judging by the frequency of what Amado Pineda calls: "Panaka-nakang pag-ulan at bagyo," I'd say the rainy season has arrived.

I can't wait to watch the storms again from my office window. But I'll surely miss our secretary as she shouts: "Delubyo na!"
