Printed Matters: Mimicking Marimekko

That’s the vibe this print gave me the first time I saw it.

The floral pattern and colour palette was giving me Marimekko vibes.

But this beautiful floral print is actually from SheIn. It’s from a top and skirt set that caught my eye on-line. Eventually bought it, and it was as pretty IRL.

The top had an interesting cut-out detail at the back, plus ribbons on the side. The skirt was elastic, which is always a plus.

Well done, SheIn!

Mari me

After a seeming drought in designer collaborations, Uniqlo is coming up with several ones for Spring/Summer 2018.

The first off the gates are Uniqlo U by Christophe Lemaire, and Ines Dela Fressange. And in a few weeks, they'll be launching their design collaboration with Marimekko.

I've seen the lookbook for this collection, and one piece stood out:

This dress is definitely the money piece of the collection!

Hopefully, this will be available here in MNL. If it is... sold!

Reaching the Finnish line

When I went to the U.S. last month, I was really hoping to catch a designer collaboration at either Target or Kohl's.

Alas, Target didn't have any. And while Kohl's had the Reed Krakoff collaboration, the stores close to Biboy's house were closed for business.

Luckily, when I checked out the clearance racks at Super Target in Alpharetta, I found that they still had some pieces from the Finnish fabric experts - Marimekko x Target collaboration last April.

I was able to snag the tunic, both for Ate Lissa and Ate Bullet (who was rocking it today.)

Then, this colorful kaftan which was for Mom.

And that adds one more name to the Target collaboration collection (Prabal Gurung, Phillip Lim, Joseph Altuzarra, Lilly Pulitzer) of my sisters.

The Fininish line

Look! Target's summer collaboration is with the iconic print company from Finland - Marimekko!

It's not the brand's first venture into a collaboration. When I was still living in HKG, they had a collaboration with H&M, and I remember snagging a few pieces.

Needless to say, their collection is predominantly bright and pretty.

I'm sure this will be as huge as the Lilly Pultizer one.
