A few years ago, my concept of "cheap thrills" would be finding clothes from my fave fast fashion brands at 70% off. Or more!

Nowadays, it has shifted to finding P1 grocery items from my usual on-line supermarket haunts.

And this is today's little haul:

These 4 items only cost me P4! Antibacterial wipes, Cadbury Chocolates and Soy Sauce.

Yes, they're random. But that's what fun shopping is supposed to be.

Aside from the fact that they're just ONE. PESO. EACH.

Right on Target!

I must say, there's a certain thrill whenever I realize that Target is just a few minutes away from where I am.

Before, I used to just browse their websites, especially when there are designer collaborations. I'd have to coordinate with my Mom and brother in the U.S. to either buy them or have what I bought on-line shipped to them.

Now, I can just hop over and check out items myself. (Too bad there's no notable collaboration, though.)

I'll be seeing you a few more times before I go back home, Target.

Ramen Rave: Cheap thrills

With ramen places popping up everywhere, fans of this Japanese staple are spoilt for choice. 

Most of the ramen places that opened in Manila are very high end, though. Not that I'm complaining. After all, you need to pay a premium if you want to taste legit ramen.

But sometimes, you want the Japanese ramen taste without the Japanese ramen price. And recently, I found a place where you can get that exact experience.

For the price its being sold, I must say that this isn't bad at all. The broth is very flavorful, and the add ons are substantial. My only complaint is that the noodles are a bit chewy, to the point where I was wondering if it was undercooked. Other than that, it's a pretty decent bowl or ramen.

Then again, I can't really complain. After all, it's just P129.00 for a big bowl of ramen and a glass of green iced tea.

My latest cheap thrill

The food court at SM Megamall is a haven for cheap foodie finds. One of my current favorites is from a stall called Chicken and Co. It's a snacker that's called "Chika burgers."

It's composed of 4 mini-chicken sandwiches. Each chicken patty is sandwiched between pan de sal, and has this combination of cheese sauce and ketchup. It's served with potato chips on the side. And the potato chips are also smothered in a cheese sauce.

What's great about this filling snack is that it's uber cheap. This entire serving is sold at P59!

How's that for a deliciously cheap thrill?

Tonight's cheap thrill

Here's something I haven't done in decades.

I went to a sari-sari store!

On my way home, I had a sudden craving for a mint gum, and I didn't want to go to the supermarket to buy a whole bag. So, for the first time in almost a decade, I went to the sari-sari store in front of the compound and bought gum there.

Seeing candies in those plastic jars, talking to a "tindera," and saying the classic lines: "Pabili po..." were such a thrill.

I should do this again soon.

Lost in Translation

It looks like Hong Kong style noodles is this year's Zagu. Everywhere you go, there's a stall that sells them. The stalls have different names and different packaging, but the product is one and the same.

  The strange thing is, I lived in Hong Kong for 3 years, and I never saw noodles of this type ever sold anywhere. Ever.
