Headstrong

I’ve seen this several times along 8th Avenue.

This house might look ordinary, but there’s a detail that’s a head above the rest.

Literally.

Makes me wonder what the story is behind this.

Let's get personal

There was a time when there was a "personal ads" section in most broadsheets and tabloids.

In this section, you could read about people who are looking for other people. They can be looking for a date, a person to converse with, a long-term relationship, "the one", or simply, "a mate." It used to be very popular, covering about a page or 2 of the paper.

But when the internet came, that all disappeared.

So, it was such a novelty to see an honest-to-goodness personal ad last Sunday.

A personal ad written for a dog, though.

I hope Marcel finds the dog of his dreams.

Poster girl for censorship

On my way home, I saw this standee for the latest film of Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel.

After looking at it for a few minutes, I noticed something was off. So, I went on-line to see whether my hunch was correct. And it was!

In the original poster, Cameron Diaz was just wearing her underwear. I guess this got the attention (or ire) of the MTRCB and asked the movie importer to cover it up. Thus, the awkward pink undies.

The MTRCB are strange folks indeed.

This provincial life: Where's the beef?

As I was walking around Malinao, this food stall immediately caught my eye:

Imagine, hamburgers at P10.00! Not only that, it's cheaper than a ham sandwich, and even an egg sandwich!

I wonder what kind of beef those hamburgers are made of.

With a Twiz

I had the strangest dream.

And what made it even more strange is the fact that at my present age, I'm still capable of having dreams such as this.

The dream: I was walking around in a world made entirely of Twizzlers.

Maybe there's a commercial in there waiting to happen.

Or maybe I just need to look for and buy a pack of Twizzlers.

Dead Hungry

Today's most interesting conversation was overheard in Greenhills. It was between 2 middle aged ladies (MAL) in the food section of the Greenhills Tiangge.

MAL 1: Oh, you should try this suman. It's SO good, I swear by it!
MAL 2: Really? It's that good?
MAL 1: Yes! At first I just tried one, then I ended up eating 4 sumans.
MAL 2: Where did you try it?
MAL 1: During a wake. It was so good, I went to the wake again the next day just to eat suman.

Ah yes, the things they do for suman.
