The last time I was this excited about a singer in a talent show was Carrie Underwood.

After seeing Sydney Christmas in BGT, that level of excitement just came back!

As Filipinos can attest, “My Way” is a dangerous song to sing.

But my gosh! Sydney sang it perfectly!

She’s going to win  this!

Back Masking

When I was in SG, I caught the re-run of this new game show in the U.S. called "The Masked Singer."

The show has an interesting premise. Singers are fully disguised, and they compete against each other. The judges eliminate a contestant per week, and they do this based on their singing performance. After they're eliminated, that's the only time they reveal who they are.

When I found out the names behind the masks, I was impressed. They had LaToya Jackson, Ricki Lake, Tori Spelling, Terry Bradshaw, among others.

After that re-run, I've only managed to watch the show twice.

Looks like I have to back watch a few more episodes to catch up.

Makes my blood Boyle

When we first saw Susan Boyle on the stage of "Britain's Got Talent," we fell in love with her immediately.

That's why I was quite disappointed that she just finished 1st runner up on her season.

While browsing youtube, I came across a video that shows one important thing:

I hope she wins this time. I really, really do!

The Grace of Whitney

For more than 6 months, I've been seeing this video recommendation on youtube. The title of the video is "Insane!!! This Girl is Whitney Reborn," and the visual is that of a woman in a fully beaded gown in a concert.

I've never had the motivation to click it, mainly because Whitney is Whitney.

Then, I came across this audition video from the on-going season of America's Got Talent.



Gosh! She sounds so much like Whitney Houston. And her rendition of "Run to you" is on-point.

Her name is Glennis Grace, and it turns out that she's the same woman who was in that "Girl is Whitney Reborn," video.



That voice! She could be Whitney Houston's voice double!

But I think Mel B. put it perfectly when she said: "You sound like Whitney, but I want to see you put a bit of you." I think that's what's going to make Glennis Grace a star!

It's a McCloudy day!

It's been a while since I was moved by a performance by a singer on a talent show. The last one was Susan Boyle's audition on "Britain's Got Talent."

Then today, I saw this:



Somebody please just cut the competition and make Lillie McCloud win already. Her voice is perfection! It has the right blend of power, soul and restraint. And would you believe she's 54 years old and a grandma? How awesome is that?

My forecast for X-Factor is clear. It's going to be McClouds all the way.
