No, it's not Adidas.

It's Plains & Prints!

Let me explain.

Their Purple Sale started last week, and here's the first dress purchase from the sale.

This caught my eye the time it was launched a few months ago. But there were other dresses from that collection that were more covetable, and the decision was to just wait for this dress went on sale.

And it did!

The dress has an interesting print made up of 3 different types of stripes. They vary in thickness and width, and while it might seem chaotic on paper, it came out really nice and chic.

It's definitely worth the wait.

LFLTAT: Resort to this

This is an outfit that first caught my eye a few weeks ago.  

It's from the SM house brand that specializes in resort wear - Coco Cabana. This consists of a roomy top and loose trousers that's made with a silk fabric with a very pretty and eye-catching botanical motif. It also has tassel details on the hem of both the top and pants.

After checking it out, I told myself that I'd come back and buy it another time.

Passing through SM yesterday, I found out that the outfit was now on-sale! Aside from it being 50% off, my SM Prestige card also gave me an extra 10% off!

With that double discount, this entire resort ensemble rang up to less than P800!

That's why I resorted to buying it.

Black lace and promises

It’s been almost a year since i’ve Last stepped into an H&M store. And for me, a year with no H&M is equivalent to 5 years! Harhar.

My promise was once things ease up, i’ll visit the one nearest the house - either Gateway or UP Town Center and buy something. Let’s show H&M some support!

But it turns out the promise would be kept at a nearer branch - their online store at Zalora!

While the selection isn’t as vast as their physical stores, there were still some interesting buys. Like this black lace dress.

What made it more interesting? The fact that it was on sale. And really cheap!

And with this online purchase, part of my promise was kept.

Skirt week: Checked out

Last weekend, there was a sale at SM North EDSA. And, while visiting one of my favorite haunts there - SM Department Store, they had an irresistible promo that caught my eye.

In one section, there were items that were on 50% off, and there was an extra 50% off on top of it. Then, since I was an SM Prestige Card holder, there was an extra 10% off!

Why don't they just give it away?

Anyhoo, one item from that rack that really caught my eye was this checkered skirt with a faux sleeve detail.

The fabric and construction are both super chic. It's a hybrid of something classic (fabric) and something fashion (design.)

Then, I saw this shirt at Penshoppe, and it's reddish hue echoed one of the squares on the skirt.

Together, this checkered ensemble is the epitome of Lazy Sunday Chic.

LFLTAT: Compleat look

Being a frequent Plains and Prints customer, i’ve managed to get insider information from the store managers and clerks at one time or another.

Among those insider information is this tidbit about the on-going Purple Sale. They’ve classified their stores, and the sale stock depends on the store classification.

For example, the “A” stores carry the 2018 collections at 30-50% off. Then, the “B” stores carry 2017 items at 60% off. Some “B” stores also have older stock which they sell for P350, P400 and P600.

After finding out that Plains and Prints in Ali Mall is a “B” store, I had to drop by and check if they had fab finds. And they did.

First, this color blocked pleated skirt. The color is so chic!

Second, this white top with an asymmetric fringe. I got it In white to echo the center of the skirt.

Together, This chic and complete look only cost P750!

Completely awesome!

The Color Purple

Among local fast fashion brands, there’s only one sale that I really anticipate.

Plains and Prints!

And they’ve started already!

Color me excited!

Royal rumble, well, almost

So, I saw this Alexander McQueen book from afar. It was just one, last copy on the shelf.

From the corner of my eye, I saw a well-dressed lady also looking at the same book.

As I took a few steps forward towards the shelf, I noticed her doing the same thing, but faster. It was clear at that point, she was going for the book.

Thank goodness I have larger strides. Because I wanted that book, too.

In the end...

And guess what? The book was on sale! Less than P500!

A McQueen book for less than P500! That's a royal deal!

Booking Mrs. Herrera

One of the highlights of my 2016 was when I got to see the Carolina Herrera retrospective exhibit at SCAD in Atlanta.

During that exhibit, they were selling a book which chronicled her 35 years in fashion. It was a beautifully art directed and photographed coffee table book, and I wanted to get a copy.

Unfortunately, I started packing and immediately knew that I wouldn't have space for it in my luggage. Aside from the book being quite large, it was also heavy. So, there was a problem both in space and weight.

This weekend, I dropped by National Bookstore, and lo and behold!

It's the same book I wanted to buy!

Not only was it available at National Bookstore, it was at 90% off! Seriously, it was less than P500!

It might have come 2 years later, but it's worth it! (Literally and figuratively.)

Singing the blues

From reds to blues.

This is what all these sales can do.

Yup, it's a stash of blue jeans - in different washes and colors. Each one has an interesting detail - pearls, pleats, distressed edges, asymmetrical buttons - you name it, it's there.

Best part is, they're all on sale. Some pairs I got as low as P300!

See. The blues can make you happy, too.

English blooms

Last November, I saw this beautiful silk dress at Debenhams.

It was a Dark green dress, bursting with big, bold colored flowers. It had a high neck, long sleeves and the length was mid-calf. It was a dress that would be perfect for an English tea party. (Heck, I can imagine the Duchess of Cambridge wearing that dress.)

Since I was busy arranging my US trip, I never got around to buying that dress.

Then today, I saw the dress again. And it was 70% off!

We all know how this story ended, of course.

Parfois Perfection

There are 5 words that never fail to grab my attention.

"Buy One, Get One Free."

When these words are emblazoned outside my favorite stores, it becomes a drop-everything-moment and I find myself browsing endlessly inside.

Parfois - that French fast-fashion and accessory brand - is one of those stores. True enough, they had those words posted outside the Megamall branch. And that led me to these:

Four pairs of shoes! For the price of two! Two extremely affordable shoes!

It was a good mix of sneakers, loafers and sandals - all on the cheap!

Thing is, the sale will be running until mid-September.

Insane In sale

So, what happens when H&M suddenly has a flash sale and puts all their sale items at P200, P300 and P500?

This is what happens:

But that's how the word "sale" transforms people.

Heck, I was transformed, too.

Red-dy or not

It was early last year that I saw this red dress from Plains and Prints.

Didn't buy it back then. And during this season's Purple Sale, the dress reappeared and I didn't miss the chance to take it home.

I'm loving the red and white combination, and how delicate but graphic the floral prints are.

It's a pretty inspiring piece that's already sending my mind forward to the holidays.

LFLTAT: Pump up the volume

It's Clearance Sale time, and most every mall, department store and fast fashion brand is on sale.

On a routine trip to SM Megamall, the "sale" sign of two of my favorite haunts beckoned, and it resulted in a nice Look For Less Than A Thousand.

First piece, a classic, white top from SM Department Store. It's made of 100% white cotton, sleeveless and collared, but with a cascading waterfall hem that added volume to the otherwise plain shirt.

Second, a pair of khakis from the Uniqlo U collection. The fabric is heavy and structured, which gives the pants an interesting volume to it.

Because they were both on sale, the duo rang up to less than P1000. In fact, the combo rang up to only P840!

That speaks volumes about the sales we have.

Don't Shoe forget about me

Here are 4 good reasons why you should proceed with caution to SM Department Store during a shoe sale:

Really! These nice mules were all on sale and all on the cheap! It's unbelievable how much these pairs were. And that's why I ended up buying all of them.

It has begun!

H&M just amped up their sale. Zara's annual year-starter sale has commenced. And every other store has put up their sale sign!

Dangerous times. Dangerous times.

Goody Two Shoes

As sales wrap up, they always find ways to make their merchandise more irresistible to shoppers. It can be a really big markdown, a special clearance price, and in some instances, a buy-one-get-one-on-clearance-items deal.

The last one was the tactic that Forever 21 employed this week. They had a buy-one-take-one offer for all clearance items. That made it impossible to not get these 2 pairs of classic red flats.

 Then, Piazza Italia had a similar promo, with 2 pairs of shoes for the price of one. That made these gladiator flats irresistible.

Two shoes for the price of one! It's during days like these that I'm fortunate to have two sisters.

Sale-a-brate

It's that time of the year again.

Time to steer clear of H&M, lest you want to come home with bags and bags of clothes and shoes at awesome prices!

Plains and Prints stores during a sale are dangerous places. You find yourself casually meandering in without any plan or agenda, and you walk out with three bags full of awesomely designed clothes on the cheap!
