Props to you!

 It's been a while since my last ride on a propeller plane.

While some people might find this small plane daunting, I'm one of the people who like how cozy this type of plane is.

Bonus,  I'm witnessing the landing gear coming out of the plane. Again, it's been ages since then.

Now this is a "flight of fancy."

Nasi, I see

Even if i’ve been flying Air Asia for many years now, one of the things that Imhaven’t tried Yet is the legendary Pak Nasser’s Nasi Lemak.

Friends and family who fly Air Asia swear by how good this in-flight meal is. 

The past few flights with Air Asia, I’ve been SO tempted to try it. But because I’m wary to take off my mask, I’ve always avoided it.

But those days are behind me. Finally, I’ve tried the Nasi Lemak on my latest flight.

Now, I see what the fuss is about.

(Last) Flight of Dragons

When I was still living in HKG, my 2 favourite and frequently used airlines were CX (Cathay Pacific) and KA (Dragon Air.)

CX was my default airline when I'd fly back to Manila or Tokyo, while KA was my usual choice for budget flights going into the Mainland.

Eventually, Dragon Air was folded into Cathay Pacific and became Cathay Dragon. It was a merger that excited me, and I was able to fly using this carrier for a few times.

About a week ago, it was announced that CX will shut Cathay Dragon down. The pandemic has hit the airline industry hard, and unfortunately, this was one of the airlines that suffered.

It's sad news. But I'm hopeful that when things go back to normal, Cathay Dragon will find a way to fly again.

Frenzy at 37,000 ft.

The moment I stepped in the plane for our flight from ATL to DOH, I knew it was going to be a busy, busy, busy flight.

For one, the flight was full. Second, there was too much carry-on luggage that the overhead cabins couldn't accommodate them anymore. This resulted in a lot of hot headed passengers and frustrated flight attendants.

"This is going to be a really long flight," was what I thought to myself.

Thankfully, I slept through most of it.

But when I woke up - with less than 4 hours into the journey - I saw just how frenzied the flight was.

Yup, no one even had the time nor opportunity to clean the galleys.

And to think I dreamt of being a flight attendant once.

Multiplicity

A few more days and I'll be headed to feel the autumn chill in Tokyo.

Thankfully, during my last visa application, they gave me a multiple entry visa good for 3 years!

That means I can now go there whenever I want. 

Woot!

Boy, does she have her acronyms wrong...

On my way home to Manila from HK, I was seated beside these two chipper ladies at the airport. From their conversations, (I don't know whether they were just talking too loud or i'm eavesdropping on them), these are the things I've gathered about them:

1. It's their first time to come home to the Philippines in 3 years.
2. They work as domestic helpers
3. Woman A left her daughter when she was 2 months old. During her first visit, she was already 4, and now she's turning 7. That's one of the reasons why she's visiting Manila, to celebrate her 7th birthday. (How sweet!)
4. Woman B paid HK$300 for excess baggage. (She's going to make SOOOOOOOOOO many people happy with all that pasalubong!)

But the highlight of their conversation was this:

Woman A: Naku, baka huli na naman yang flight ng PAL...
Woman B: Sinabi mo pa. Diba kaya nga tinawag na PAL, Plane Always Delayed...

Then I almost fell from my seat.
