Fresh Prince

One of my favorite Disney animated films is "Aladdin." In fact, I had a VHS tape (VHS? Look it up, kids!) of that film bought in the U.S. so I could watch it over and over and over again.

Despite the fact that I've seen it so many times, I would still laugh at the same parts, sing the same songs, laugh at the same jokes, and feel the same thrill in the end.

This love for the animated film makes me feel quite odd that I never got to watch its live action version. I don't know why I never got around to watching it, but I never did. Curious.

Seeing this clip, the "Prince Ali" song, made me even more curious about the film. And yes, Will Smith is the genie in this film, and Will Smith was the lead in "The Prince of Bel Air." A Prince singing about a Prince? Interesting...



Maybe I should look for it and watch it while we're still stuck at home.

And yes, I'm sure I can't find it on VHS.

Feeling animated!

The last fully animated commercial I did was way back in 2012. It was a lot of work, but definitely a lot of fun.

It's an experience I got to relive this year with this fun and catchy commercial for Gardenia Pocket Sandwich.



Yup, it was a lot of work, but the end result is so nice and uppity, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

It's Valentine's Day. 

As expected, people are crowding flower shops, bakeshops and candy stores. When I passed by SM Megamall for lunch, it was easy to see how brisk business was for Holland Tulips and other shops in the vicinity.

Since we're on the subject of love, here's a Valentine's-appropriate-rave.

I'm SO loving Disney's "Paperman."

"Paperman" is an animated short film about two strangers who had a chance encounter on a train station -- all thanks to a piece of paper. What follows is a light, dramatic and comedic narrative which had me enthralled from start to finish.

As the animated short came to an end, there was a well-spring of feel-good-feelings. The same feeling I get after watching an awesome rom-com.

This film is so wonderfully and beautifully done, I'm not surprised that it received an Oscar Nomination for Best Animated Short.

I'm sure the Oscar voters will love this film as much as I did.
