Not Bad

You know you're old when the artist you listened to as a kid is now the subject of a retrospective.

Yes, there's a Michael Jackson mini-exhibit in One Ayala.

Listening to the kids talk about Michael Jackson as if he was some super old person is both amusing and humbling.

Yes, we're old.

(And that's not bad.)

FMM: From Rokh to Rock

You should've seen this coming.

After 4 consecutive Rokh posts, our Friday Magic Madness song has to be about "Rock."

What better "rock" song is there than Michael Jackson's 1979 hit, "Rock with you."

After listening to this song again after a while, the reality still rings true.

Michael Jackson is a legend! (And yes, he rocks.)

FMM: Wish for the World

They say this pandemic is a great equalizer.

Despite distance, despite borders, despite differences, different countries find themselves fighting the same invisible enemy. Whether it's a 1st world or 3rd world country, people find themselves in the same situation, facing the same difficulty.

And despite differences, they find themselves praying for the same thing. For our world to heal. That's why this Friday Magic Madness song from The King of Pop is an anthem of sorts for people today.

We pray that the world heals.

And it heals very, very, very soon.

FMM: A different thrill

Yes, "Thriller" is such an obvious choice for a Friday Magic Madness song for Halloween. And yes, "Thriller" has been featured as my Friday Magic Madness song before.

But you haven't seen thriller like this!

It's one of my favorite dance scenes from a film, and this one is from "13 going on 30." It's such an adorable scene and Jennifer Garner was great as an awkward teen trapped in a grown woman's body.

I still get thrilled by this scene.

FMM: Thrilled!

Not only is today a Friday, it's also Halloween. So, this old song is begging to be played!

I've always been thrilled by this music video. And aside from being thrilled, I was so scared of it, too. Especially the ending.

Happy Halloween!

Thrilled in Tokyo

Yesterday afternoon, Mark and I walked around Odaiba and ended up at Diver City Mall in the neighborhood. We noticed there was a makeshift stage and a crowd gathering, and we found out that there was an event in a few minutes.

It wasn't just an ordinary event. This event was Bad!

It was a Michael Jackson Memorial Day concert in honor of the King of Pop's death anniversary.

Headlining the program was this Michael Jackson impersonator who did a really good impression of Michael. As Mark observed, he even looked like he had botox and had a whitening job done.

This guy was really good. It seems like he's been a long-time follower of Michael since he had all his lines and mannerisms memorized. But more than that, he had the moves right down pat.

He even came with back-up dancers!

Here he is doing the "Smooth Criminal" number which the crowd went crazy over.

As the program progressed, the crowd just got bigger and bigger. We even noticed a group in front who dressed up like Michael Jackson. He's that popular here.

Here's his finale which the audience just loved. It was a medley of Michael's greatest hits.

And just like a real Michael Jackson concert, the audience asked for an encore, and he gladly obliged!

Overall, it was great fun to spend the afternoon watching a pseudo-Michael Jackson concert.

Heck, it wasn't just great fun. It was a Thriller!
