The inner workings of Wang

A few years ago, Alexander Wang did a collaboration with Uniqlo.

This was a series of dresses and tops, and I bought this dress for Ate Lissa.

Now, he's back with another Uniqlo collab. This time, though, he's creating new pieces for their Heattech line.

Too bad we don't need thermal underwear in the Philippines. These piece would've been nice to have.

Wang nab it! Part deux!

After many a speculation, from Prada to Proenza Schouler to Tom Ford, it's finally confirmed that the next big designer collaboration is between H&M and Alexander Wang!

And it's launching on November 6!

How's that for an advanced birthday gift?

T time

Today, I had to go to the South for a bank errand. For people like me who live in the Northern part of Metro Manila, this is practically an excursion. So, I thought of maximizing the trip to that area by going to this place that one of my friends told me about before.

I was told that there's this nice outlet store in an obscure mall/bus terminal in Alabang. Since it was on the way, I thought of checking it out. 

And I'm so glad I did. Because less than 10 minutes into browsing the racks and racks (and racks and racks) of clothes, I found this gem!

Yes, the outlet store in that obscure mall/bus terminal in Alabang had T by Alexander Wang! Can I hear a whoop whoop? *Whoop! Whoop!*

Let me paraphrase Ate Vi by saying: Not just one, but three Alexander Wang dresses!

The first one is this tank dress that's a combination of cotton and charmeuse. It has a relaxed silhouette, and the material mix adds an element of interest to the entire piece.

I've noticed that Alexander Wang likes cutouts at the back. For his Uniqlo collaboration, he had a dress like that. And this tank dress is no exception. It has a draped back that reveals a cutout.

The next piece is gorgeous at many fronts. It's this long dress in camel colored cotton.

The draping of this dress is superb! I can imagine how each drape will fall nicely on the body. The side also has a thigh high slit to show off some skin. Actually, this dress looks like a cross between Donna Karan and Alexander Wang.

The third and final piece is this very long and very sleek black maxi dress. Like the usual Alexander Wang dresses, this one is streamlined, has a racerback detail, is very long, and also has a thigh high slit.

Plus, it also has beautiful draping in front.

The great thing about these pieces is the material. True to his signature, the cotton is buttery soft and will cling beautifully to the body. This works both in tropical weather, and even in colder climates.

And needless to say, they're uber duber cheap! After all, it's in an outlet store in Alabang!

Overall, this dress fits to a T!

Designer Expo

Going around Cubao Expo is always an interesting experience because of all the quirky shops within the compound. During our Father's Day lunch, Javier got a little restless and insisted on going outside and checking out the different thrift shops and looking at all the curios and collectibles.

When it was my turn to bring him around, we passed by this thrift shop that sold clothes. One of the pieces on display caught my eye. So, after lunch, I went back to the store to get a closer look at the dress. How close? So close, the dress went home with me.

The dress was an Alexander Wang confection in heather gray and black jersey fabric. True to his aesthetic, the dress had very clean lines, highlighted with draping, and some interesting details such as a fully exposed zipper at the side.

Truth is, one of the reasons why I gravitated towards the piece is because it reminded me of an Alexander Wang dress that Gywneth Paltrow wore to an event.

The dress I found in the thrift store is definitely a derivative of this one.

The next piece I found was this black, lightweight coat with elbow length sleeves. It had a lot of cute little design details that were a delight to look at.

First, it had printed, acrylic buttons in geometric shapes. It really popped out against the black. They look so cool!

But the biggest surprise was when I opened the coat and saw this:

The lining was 100% silk, and the pattern was so vibrant that it deserved a second and third look. 

Again, this vibrant pattern looked familiar, and upon closer scrutiny, I found out why:

It's a Pucci coat!

Whoa! Two designer finds in one cool thrift shop. This is enough to make me want to visit Cubao Expo more often.
