Boss moves!

Back in the 80s, one of the shows that I'd stay up to watch was an American sitcom entitled "Who's the Boss."

The reason I'd watch it religiously was Alyssa Milano. She was so adorable as the smart and sassy Samantha Micelli. Judith Light was also a joy to watch as Angela Bower. And let's not forget the headliner, Tony Micelli, played by Tony Danza.

Recently, I've been wondering how the cast of this classic show are doing now. Providentially, this video popped up on youtube.

It's so good to see the cast together.

And they all look good! Like a boss, really.

Designing Women

More than 2 decades ago, there was a hit Sitcom in the US which was also aired here in the Philippines. It was a sitcom about 4 creative women in the field of design, and it was entitled “Designing Women.”

The 4 women in the series were in the Interior Design industry, and they were all headstrong and had their unique points-of-view.

Fast forward to 2022, and i’m watching the finale of Project Runway Season 19. And while watching it, I couldn’t help but get flashbacks.

Here’s why:

The top 4 finalists are all women. They’re all in the field of design - Fashion Design, and they’re all headstrong, they have their unique points-of-view, and are all supremely creative.

It was like art imitating life!

But after the episode was done, the ultimate designing woman was Shantall! Which was no surprise because everyone was expecting her to win.

That’s the power of (designing) women!

FMM: Stranger Things

Nope, this isn't a post about THAT hit show. After all, it's Friday Magic Madness day.

Coming from last week's sitcom theme, I thought of continuing it this week with yet another theme song from one of my favourite shows.

This is another sitcom from Channel 9. It's about two strangers from different parts of the world, thrust together by circumstances. And their combination works perfectly.

And that's why it's called "Perfect Strangers."

Just like "Jennifer Slept Here," there are parts of the song that I remember since my elementary days until now. Particularly: "Rain and thunder. Wind and haze. I'm bound for better days. It's my life, my dreams. Nothing's gonna stop me now."

Just like nothing's gonna stop me now from watching this again and again.

FMM: Sleep over

Today, I'm changing up Friday Magic Madness a bit.

Instead of a regular song, today will be about a sitcom theme song!

Back in the 80s, there was a show on RPN-9 about a young starlet who passed away, but her soul still lived in her original home. Then, when the new occupants arrived, she would be visible to the the teen boy who lives there. And this friendship between the 2 characters was the foundation of the series.

Those 2 characters are Joey and Jennifer, and that sitcom was "Jennifer Slept Here."

Even if I was just a wee little boy when this was shown, I found it very interesting and would watch each episode.

And of course, I memorized the theme song until now, especially the part: "She lived here, She laughed here, She loved here, laughed here, wept here. She slept here. And she never really left here, Jennifer Slept Here."

Since reboots are popular these days, they should make a reboot of this series as well.

I'll definitely watch that, too.

Shady Ladies

When "Golden Girls" was on air back in the 80s, I was supposed to be quite young to understand the "old lady" humour. But strangely, I did get it, and would often guffaw-out-loud at the jokes of Blanche, Dorothy, Rose and Sofia.

It's been almost 30 years since the series ended, but every time Golden Girls snippets appear on youtube, I'd still watch it and would still laugh at. Just like this wonderful collection of shade from the Fierce Four.

Hmmm... makes me wonder if the series is on Netflix. This is a show that's worth binge-watching!
