It might be the effect of all these singing contests, but there's a resurgence of interest in Shirley Bassey's songs. After all, her songs are awesome contest pieces, and if the contestant can get that raw, rasp of Shirley's voice, they've got it in the bag.

Just like what Rose Fontanez did in X-Factor Israel some years back.

Since I'm a huge Shirley Bassey fan, I'm all up for this resurgence! Heck, I've been writing about her for many years, and writing about her again is always a welcome thing to do.

Today is one of those days when you just want to indulge in some guilty, cheesy pleasure. Even in music.

And since it's a Friday, I choose to indulge in some guilty, cheesy, musical pleasure. Particularly, one of my parents' favorites - Shirley Bassey!



"Hey Big Spender" as a song is already full of cheese and camp - in a good way. Add Shirley Bassey's animated performance - and that dress! It's a sure formula for fun on a Friday.

So yes, I'll spend a little time with Shirley Bassey today.

FMM: Magical weekend

That's what the weekend is going to be.

Biboy flew in from the U.S. to celebrate Mom's birthday, and we're spending the weekend in Bataan with the whole family! And this calls for a Friday Magic Madness song from Shirley Bassey. A song that I used to listen to a lot because Dad has a cassette tape of it.



What can be more magical than that.
