FMM: That's cold

I'm not sure why, but it seems like Paula Abdul's "Cold Hearted" is making a resurgence on-line. I've been seeing it popping up on my feed in different iterations. Some posts are about the actual video, some are about the iconic lip-sync at RuPaul's Drag Race, and some feature Paula herself.

That's a sign. This song deserves to be on today's Friday Magic Madness.

The MTV is so slick and cool. It feels like an homage to the audition scene in "Flashdance." The song itself is iconic! From the catchy beat to the shift the the orchestra. And of course, Paula's fast rap was the chef's kiss of the song. Overall, it still feels fresh and current, despite the fact that it's a 37 year old song.

Because of all these reasons, it's with a full heart that I'm playing this song over and over again today.

FMM: Will you?

From "Marry Me" in 2023, we go back to 1991 for today's Friday Magic Madness song.

"Will you Marry Me?" seems like an apt song for today. This is one of Paula Abdul's hits from the 90s, and it would've been cool if they included this ditty in the "Marry Me" film.

Aside from sharing a bit of the title, they also both share the same effervescence and sweetness.  After all, they're both marriage-themed.

FMM: Amidst the rush

Since everyone's rushing to complete their Christmas shopping today - it's a Payday/Weekend after all - let me play an appropriate Friday Magic Madness song for the season.

This is a classic 90s ditty from the queen of dance herself, Paula Abdul!



One of the things that made this video an even bigger classic is that it featured a relatively-new and very young Keanu Reeves. I'm sure you've spotted him already.

Enough typing. Time to rush, rush!

FMM: Feel the Vibe!

This season of American Idol is turning out to be the most forgettable. Ever!

They're down to the top 6, and each one is a mediocre singer. People are touting this season as the worst season, and for good reason. I think the show is on its way out soon. Unless they do something about it.

Like bringing back Paula Abdul!

She's still one of the coolest judges that AI ever had. And she's backed by equally cool tunes. Just like this classic 90s Paula Abdul song.



If they let her bring back this type of vibe to AI, they just might recover all the audiences they lost.

FMM: Pining for Paula

It's finale season for singing competitions in the U.S. "The Voice" just concluded theirs, and "The X Factor USA," has crowned Alex and Sierra as the winner.

Despite the level of talent that I'm seeing on these shows, I must admit that a singing show ain't the same without Paula Abdul. For me, she set the standard in judging - both in a good and a bad way. And people say she's a bit cray, but you can't deny that she's a knockout.

Singing to a New Year!

What better way to usher the first day of 2013 than celebrating all things new and positive.

Today is the day when "claim" is the most popular word and everyone looks forward to all the blessings and good things that come with the new year. And that's enough to make me want to break into song. Or watch music videos, at least.

To start it off, let's sing to the "Promise of a New Day!"



And let's all look forward to "The Start of Something New."
