Hey Mama!

No, this isn't a Black Eyed Peas post.

But it is about a song. Just not that group.

Today is Mother's Day, and it's fitting to play a song about Moms by the Spice Girls.

Back in the day, "Mama" was the quintessential tribute song to Moms. Rightly so, because the lyrics are so apt and so real.

Happy Mother's Day Mom! And to all Moms around the world.

Mother of Celebrations

Good thing Biboy and family came just in time to celebrate Mother’s Day.

The Force of the Family

I'm fortunate to be surrounded by strong women who head their families with both force and grace.

From my Mom, my 2 sisters, and my 2 sisters-in-law. From the earlier generations, my paternal and maternal grandmothers, plus my Lolo Iking's sister - Lola Talen.

Then, there's the new generation of Moms - my 2 nieces-in-law, the Moms of my 3 adorable "apos."

To all of you, this padawan sends this greeting:

May the force continue to be with you today and beyond!

Mother's Yay!

Usually, we spend Mother's Day eating out with family - which means that we give Mom a break from cooking for us. So, we usually hie off to the nearby mall, look for a good restaurant, and enjoy a meal that has no effort needed from Mom.

Today will be different, though. With the Quarantine still in place, we can't go out and we have to stay at home and celebrate Mother's Day here. But of course, we still tried to free Mom cooking duties by just ordering food to go and fixing it here at home. It's a different approach, but hey, it works!

Happy Mother's Day, Mom! It's an unusual celebration this year, but once this is over, let's celebrate again the proper, Mother's Day way!

The Mother Lode

Today, we were blessed to spend time with the 3 Mothers in the family: Mom, Ate Bullet and Rose!

We missed Ate Lissa and Liz. But I'm sure we'll be spending Mother's Day together sometime soon.

Happy Mother's Day, Moms!

Mom's the word

It's Mother's Day! And it's time to celebrate the women in the family who are tireless in taking care of their loved ones. They say motherhood is the most difficult 24/7 job, and they've been doing this job fabulously!

Happy Mother's Day, Mom! Happy Mother's Day, Ates!

Mom's definitely the word

To the woman who's as stylish as she is smart, compassionate as she is courageous, generous as she is gorgeous, and interesting as she is inspiring, we're all so lucky to call you our Mom.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

Of success and sacrifice

They say Motherhood is the most difficult job in the world. It's a job that's 24/7 and there are no days off. Plus, there's the thing about "all-work and no pay," which is true.

They say that it entails a lot of selflessness and sacrifice. It's more a vocation rather than an occupation. Most often, Mothers even give up things for their family.

But oftentimes, the pay-off for those sacrifices are much greater. The greatest being a family that's happy, content, close knit and blessed with so much love and learnings from a Mother who has tirelessly guided each child from birth up until the present time.

My Mom is one such mother. When she married my Dad, she gave up her profession as an English teacher, and decided to leave her entire family and move to Manila. In place of that, she took on an even more difficult job, which was to raise 5 kids who weren't exactly perfect and ideal. And despite that difficulty, she patiently guided each one until they all found their place in this world.

Despite all the difficulty and sacrifices, it's easy to see how much it's paid-off.

We're now part of a family that's happy, content, close knit and blessed with so much love. We were blessed with learnings from a Mother who tirelessly guided my Kuya Marv, Ate Lissa, Ate Bullet, Biboy and myself. Through her guidance, we've found our place in the world, with her just gently nudging us rather than forcing us to follow a certain path.

And for that, we'll forever be grateful to Mom.

And for that, I am forever grateful to my Mom.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!
