Witticisms

As a writer, witty lines like these are what I dream of writing.

Gosh, this is one of those: “I wish I wrote this.” Moments.

And I can almost hear Sheilah Marie shouting: WITTY1!!

Comic Copywriting

One of the lessons I always teach in copywriting, whether it’s in school,or at work, is that you should get your point across in the fastest, clearest and most creative way possible.

People who write one-frame comic strips are people who can do that excellently. That’s why i’m A huge fan of Gary Larson.

I’m also a huge fan of whoever wrote this One:

Gosh! This is comic writing and copywriting atbits best.

I wish I wrote this.

Enduring work

This is a sticker that I saw during our shoot last Wednesday.

This is a sticker that I wrote and drew when I was in Adformatix.

Who would've thought that this simple sticker would be this enduring.

Crappy name

In my copywriting class, one of the modules I teach is how to write name studies for products and services.

One of the lessons I tell my students is that when you come up with a name, make sure that it doesn't have any negative meanings or connotations. Not just in the English language, but in other languages as well. The example I always gave was a phone company in Europe who called itself "Phony."

I should've passed on this lesson to the folks in the US who gave this name to their TV station!

Good thing they don't air in the Philippines. I can hear the laughter each time their station ID comes on.
