Get into my Carl's

My last trip to SG was in 2019. That's 6 years ago!

Of course, Carl's Jr. is always part of an SG trip itinerary.

My go-to branches were the ones in Marina Square and Vivo City. Alas, they're both closed already.

There are only 3 remaining branches, and they're usually in far off places. But being the fan, it didn't stop me from traveling far to get my fix.

So, my Carl's Jr. cravings brought me to Buona Vista, at Star Vista Mall.

Yes, ti was a bit off the beaten track, but who wouldn't travel or a taste of Carl's Jr.

I'm never going to get tired of this.

Meals with Mark: Carl’s Calling

Imagine the thrill and excitement when Mark and I saw this:

Carl’s Jr.! 

Of course, we decided to have dinner here. 

It was such a thrill to see their menu again after a long while.

It’s still as good as ever!

Call of Carl’s

Really. I don't know why I do this to myself.

Even though the prospect of traveling - much more outside the country - is still far-fetched, I still go on-line and check out my favourite haunts in SG! That includes websites for The Editor's Market, Iora, MDS, Toast Box, and of course, Carl's Jr!

It's been more than a year since I last had Carl's Jr! That's like an eternity!

No kidding. When the travel restrictions are over and we can roam around the world once again, SG will be one of my first stops. 

And Carl's Jr. along with it!

Star-filled dreams

I've dreamt of Carl's Jr. twice this month already!

Unfortunately, I can't travel out of the country yet. So, Carl's Jr. will have to wait.

Gosh! I miss the times when they had Carl's Jr. in Pasay Road. Someone bring back Carl's Jr. to the Philippines. Please!

Carl is calling

Of course, no visit to SG is complete without a trip to Carl's Jr!

The alarming thing is that the number of Carl's Jr. branches are dwindling with each visit. Before, they had more than 10, and now, it's down to three!

Don't give up on me, Carl. You have to be there in SG!

Come to Carl!

Of course, last week's visit to SG wouldn't have been complete without a visit to Vivo City and Carl's Jr.

That was the last on the agenda before I flew back to Manila. This time around, they had a limited edition chicken sandwich called the "South Beach Chicken Sandwich." It was composed of a flame-grilled chicken breast, veggies and pineapples! Needless to say, they had me at pineapples!

In keeping with their healthy theme, it was served with Mango Sjora. And to stay true to its fast food roots, it comes with large fries. LARGE FRIES! Woohoo!

This made the short SG trip complete.

Catching up with Carl

Just when I thought I wasn't going to be able to get my hands on Carl's Jr., the opportunity presented itself at the last minute.

I was going to ride the MRT at Dhoby Ghaut station, and remembered that it's connected to Plaza Singapura Mall. And of course, Carl's Jr. had a branch there!

So, I ordered my usual for take-away, and ate it at the hotel while packing my bags.

And with that, my food journey in SG was complete!

Reaching for the Star!

For this SG trip, I knew that I wouldn't be able to visit my haunts since I'll be with my students 24/7. So, I knew I'd forego going to the bangle place in Little India, the shops in Vivo City and Suntec City, the museums, and even visiting Jo at her home.

There's one place, though, that I knew I had to make time for.

Carl's Jr!

Luckily, I found out that one of my students, Izza, is a Carl's Jr. junkie as well. So, on our last night in SG, we made a pact to find Carl's Jr. 

And we did! 

Now, my trip to SG is complete.

Another thing that was on my "to-do-while-in-SG-list" was to drop by Carl's Jr. for their chicken sandwiches! 

When they still had Carl's Jr. in Manila, it was one of my favorite eating places. Whether I was with Kin, Elsie and the CAO gang at the Megamall branch, or Kuya Ers, Xtine and Fiesta at the Pasay Road branch, I would always enjoy my meal there.

They closed down in Manila many years ago, and when I discovered that they still had it in SG, I made it a point to always drop by when I'm in town. Which is what I did for lunch today.

After a few minutes, the mother ship has arrived!

And after around 20 minutes (the Chicken sandwich was huge), the mother ship left the building.

After the meal, I told myself: "Maybe I should have Carl's Jr. again before my flight."

And indeed I did.
