The cab I rode to work was in full retro mode. He had a CD packed with 80s tunes, and one of the songs that played was a song that's reminiscent of my childhood.
Frankly, I'm not sure why Styx's "Babe" has such an impact on me. But my recollection of this song was that it was played during the intermission of a movie that I watched with my parents. The movie - entitled "Alive" - was a melancholic one. That's why this song has melancholia attached to it.
Actually, the moment I hear the first few bars, that childhood feeling kicks in. And despite the momentary melancholia, I think it's great that my memories of being a kid is still as vivid.
